Make it Happen Monday! #13

Sunday, October 12, 2014

I'm not going to lie, last week was kind of rough. I had 2 bad days in a row, and wrote about how to make a bad day a bit better, but it still kind of sucked. However, I have some amazing friends and my parents are just wonderful, so even though it wasn't great, it could have been worse.

Therefore, I'm on a mission to make this week awesome! My fall break is only two weeks away (yay!) which is so exciting, but also nerve-racking because that means that I have two exams before the break... scary! But I'm excited to see my Dad, and excited to show him Caen and then go to London.

As a week recap, I guest posted on The Darling Daily, which is one of my favorite blogs! I posted about how to go from dreaming about your life to living out your dreams. It's one of my favorite posts, so check it out and let me know what you think!

Last Week:

1. Update my Tumblr with more pictures.
Yes, ladies and gents, I updated my Tumblr with pictures from Bayeux and the D-Day Landing Beaches. Check it out!

2. Find a hotel/hostel/Airbnb for Amsterdam.
I found a couple of Airbnb options... I haven't booked anything yet though.

3. Research a little bit about Bayeux and the Bayeux Tapestry.
Done and done. Fun fact, the Tapestry isn't even technically a tapestry because it's embroidered and not woven.

Also, I had a small  notebook with some information about the Tapestry written down so I could reference them, and the professor who accompanied us on the excursion saw this and was so excited! She said, "Voila! A serious student!" and then asked me where I was from, and I told her Colorado, and she was like, "Bravo, Colorado!" it was pretty funny.

4. Wear my rain boots.
I did wear them a few times this week, although not on the day I should have (and then feel, skinned my knee, bruised basically my whole body and my ego).

5. Plan a trip to Brussels.
Pas encore... (not yet).

6. Buy a cactus/succulent.
Okay, so technically this wasn't on last week's Weekly Wishes... it was just kind of an unofficial wish. But I accomplished it!

Meet Normand Pamplemousse (pronounced: Norman Pamp-luh-moose).

Normand is how you refer to someone who is from Normandie ("he is Normand"), and Pamplemousse is the word for grapefruit. I just think it's a cool word, and since my cactus is pink it fits.

I put him next to my seashells on my desk... and it's kind of perfect. My two homes: Colorado, which is dry, hot and landlocked; Normandy, rainy, humid, and right by the sea.

This Week:

1. Write an awesome post about Bayeux and the D-Day Landing Beaches.
This weekend was pretty awesome, and that's a massive understatement. It was a whirlwind of history, art, culture, and intense emotional power. So, naturally, I have to write about it.

2. Research Rouen!
I'm going to Rouen with some friends this weekend, and it's going to be amazing! I just want to research some stuff in case we ever run out of things to do (as if that's even possible).

3. Find a prettier pot for Normand Pamplemousse.
My cactus is still in the little plastic pot that I bought him in... I want to give him a prettier home.
